"FAIR TRADE is an approach to business and to development based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks to create greater equity in the international trading system."

Top quality hammocks made by skilled weavers from hill tribes of Northern Thailand. What started with a few rolls of yarn has today become a business selling thousands of hammocks every year, skilfully and artfully woven by over 150 local weavers. Every hammock you buy will bring many hours of relaxation for you, and much needed employment for us!

"Fair trade is a tangible contribution to fight against poverty, climate change and global economic crisis. It must benefit the most vulnerable and deliver sustainable livelihoods by developing opportunities especially for small and disadvantage producers"

OUR MAYAN HAMMOCKS ARE ETHICALS

What is ethical trade?

Ethical trade means that retailers, brands and their suppliers take responsibility for improving the working conditions of the people who make the products they sell. Most of these workers are employed by supplier companies around the world, many of them based in poor countries where laws designed to protect workers' rights are inadequate or not enforced.
Companies with a commitment to ethical trade adopt a code of labour practice that they expect all their suppliers to work towards. Such codes address issues like wages, hours of work, health and safety. NO kids make hammocks for us.

OUR VALUES
WE VALUE ORGANISATIONS WHERE EMPLOYEES ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT.

  • We love the Mayan people and we want you to discover and enjoy their marvellous hammocks. Our weavers are all over Yucatan in small villages and they are treated ethically. They do not have to pay for raw material, they work from their home at their own pace while caring for their children and they get paid once the hammock is finished.
  • Hill-Tribe hammocks are recognized by the World Fair Trade Organization through Thai Tribal Crafts. This is a guarantee that all weavers are treated with most respect and that they can earn a decent living making hammocks. Our goal is to provide much needed work and fair wages to quality weavers from the North of Thailand, helping them economically while allowing them to preserve their culture.
RELAX WHILE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

WE VALUE OUR CUSTOMERS

  • Buying a FAIR TRADE  or ETHICAL hammock does not mean you have to pay high prices.  As an online business we do not need a fancy store on a busy street with high rents. This business model assure you of the best prices for top quality hammocks. We do our best every day to ensure that our prices are the best you can find. We constantly check our competitors prices to make sure you are getting the best deal.  When you are comparing our prices with other online retailers, please make sure you are checking the total price and order processing time. We would be very surprised if you do so but let us know if you find a total price lower than ours and we'll attempt to match it. Our goal is to bring you the best deal, which means offering you great products, super customer service and great prices. Of course our hammocks are sometimes more expensive then the Chinese ones but doesn't it feel good to know that while relaxing on a FAIR TRADE hammock you are helping people who need you ?
  • We try to give you all the information you need to make a wise choice, either on our Web site or the brand's ones. If you need more details you can contact us by e-mail and we will get back to you within 24 hours. We work hard everyday to constantly improve our customers service.
